Event Summary
The Austin AI Ecosystem Initiative is a new effort to create a collaborative community of practice for sharing expertise, experiences, and opportunities among Austin AI professionals, AI companies and organizations (based or with staff in Austin), and other Austin companies and organizations that use (or need to use) AI extensively. The Austin area is home to tremendous technology talent and a culture of creativity and collaboration, and we aim to harness these strengths—and the presence of world-class technology leaders and AI professionals-- to transform Austin into one of the leading AI cities in the world. The Austin Forum on Technology & Society is pleased to help rap up this new, separate effort. Much early planning has already been accomplished in our first, second, and third planning meetings, but as we near decisions and formal organization now is the time to get engaged! Please join us on Thursday, November 9, at 5:00-7:00pm at Google’s offices at 500 W 2nd St. and then join us afterward for networking and more discussion at Trifecta on 3rd.
All AI professionals are welcome, but due to Google security requirements, you must register to attend. Please register by Tuesday, November 7 to ensure access. If you cannot make it but wish to contribute in the future or be on the mailing list, please send email to info@austin-ai.org.

About the Moderator
Jay is the executive director and founder of The Austin Forum on Technology & Society, which he started in 2006 and is now the leading monthly technology outreach and engagement event in Austin--and starting to attract national and even international attendees online. The Austin Forum is one of the pillars of the Austin tech scene, providing connections to information, ideas, collaborations, and community overall. Through Vizias, Jay also founded the Austin Smart City Alliance (July 2015, formerly Austin CityUP Consortium) and currently serves as the Executive Director, with a vision of creating an integrated smart city fabric throughout Austin—leveraging mobile devices and IoT data collectors, as well as supercomputers and AI for predictive analytics and scenario simulation—in the years ahead to address city issues, empower city planning, and improve city life in general.
