TED – a four- day conference of research lectures, technology demonstrations, arts performances, and world-changing ideas — has become a showcase for the intellectual style of the digital age. Started almost three decades ago on the Pacific Coast, TED (which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design) has become one of the fastest-growing, best-educated, creative communities in America.

TED Talks are a series of informative and inspiring lecture videos appearing on TED.com, which has received more than 800 million views to date. The TED brand and platform have significantly influenced digital sharing of content and the market for “ideas worth spreading” which it helped create.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created TEDx – a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The ‘x’ in TEDx stands for independently organized – but it’s more of a TED multiplier. According to TED’s curator, Chris Anderson, “it’s been the force that has taken TED across the planet and seeded all of these communities.”

As part of a passionate global network of hundreds of TEDx events taking place all over the world, TEDxAustin has a unique approach to producing this experience. Lead curators Nancy Giordano and Shawna Butler will share the vision, values, technology and strategic approach behind TEDxAustin and how this informs every decision they make to scale the impact of remarkable ideas and the extraordinary people behind them.
